As an Occupational Therapist I have been involved in leadership and management
in my various past roles. These have included; being a team leader,
being a member of a senior staff team in multi-disciplinary teams, a
Professional Lead for OT within a PCT and have held various management roles
with both uni-professional OT services and with multi-disciplinary teams in
the NHS.
Assisting the development of Occupational Therapists as skilled professionals
has always been one of my passions. I am able to offer a range services that
can support your development as an OT.

Clinical supervision I have undertaken clinical supervision with a wide group of clinical
staff, including those working in non-traditional Occupational Therapist roles, or where there is
limited access to other OT staff to work with them. The world of Occupational Therapy is an ever changing one and sometimes it can be difficult to
keep up to date with development and trends. It is important to retain a working
knowledge and awareness of best practice, of standards and clinical guidelines. I
am able to offer facilitated sessions with individuals or groups of staff to provide
professional leadership and direction.
Professional leadership also helps direct staff to key standards and
guidelines that are specific to OTs and should be used to guide clinical
practice and service delivery to meet HCPC and COT standards.
Sometimes as Occupational Therapists we come into situations where additional support and help is needed and perhaps where the professional network around us is part of the issue or is unavailable as a support in some way. Again sometimes OT staff can find themselves working in challenging circumstances and in need of a listening ear, but one that can help support turning challenges into opportunities to develop, grow and learn as an OT.
Mentorship can help provide an additional process to help support people through difficult times, transition periods or responding to new responsibilities etc.
Continuing professional development opportunities I hope to run and develop CPD workshops for OT where they can meet and network with other OTs in their area, but also focus on OT specific topics and issues for learning and development.

It is anticipated that most OTs would self-fund their place at these sessions that will be focussed 2 hour sessions at the end of a working day, with a clear theme related to OT but aiming to be of relevance to all OTs regardless of care group, or which sector they are working in.
As an Occupational Therapist based in the East of England I am used to having to travel distances to access clinical training courses, meaning expensive valuable training comes at additional premium with travel, time and even overnight stays as additional costs.
I hope to be able to organise training courses and events within a more local area to improve access to quality clinical skills based courses for OTs.
I would love to hear from you about what clinical skills and training you feel would be of benefit to you as an Occupational Therapist
